So what is an Irish Kitchen? Fifty years ago our grandparents would typically have had a parlour where they ate and welcomed visitors and a
back kitchen or scullery where the real business of washing potatoes and the like would have gone on! Nowadays our potatoes probably come pre-washed and all we need to do is toss them with some rosemary, seasalt and olive oil and we’re good to go. But Irish kitchens are essentially still the same. This is where we welcome our nearest and dearest and prepare food to sustain us. The Irish kitchen is truly still the heart of the home.
